It is really encouraging to see proposals for a brand new £9 million GP super-surgery on the old Prestbury Day Care Centre on Prestbury Road.
Alex Chalk MP and I have been holding meetings and discussions with the CCG raising our concerns relating to the closure of the Seven Posts GP Surgery in Prestbury which could leave constituents facing a 10 mile round trip to the replacement surgery in Bishops Cleeve. Travel surveys and consultations have been undertaken and reviewed and we have been working to try and find a solution for those constituents affected.
So getting a new, locally based GP surgery in the area has been a key priority for us. Formal approval has already been granted by the local NHS for the new super-surgery. Plans have now been submitted to the Council’s Planning Department and if approved, the super-surgery will provide state of the art, environmentally friendly GP facilities serving 25,000 patients.
We will continue to offer our support to assist with the progression of this facility as a matter of urgency.
