Press Release: Horizon Nuclear Power

I was very sorry to hear that Horizon Nuclear Power, which is based in my constituency, has decided to suspend its nuclear programme in the United Kingdom following a decision by its parent company, Hitachi.

School funding

Following a number of discussions which Gloucestershire MPs and others have had with Education Secretary, Damien Hinds, I’m pleased that he has responded by providing an additional £350m to support pupils with special needs, and that our County’s schools will benefit from this.

Vote of Confidence

 I apologise for the length of this post, but I wanted to give you the full picture of why I have taken the stances and actions I have, because I did not arrive at those decisions lightly.

 

Update: Brexit Negotiations

I cannot support the proposals made by the Prime Minister and the Cabinet yesterday. Neither, it seems, could the Brexit Secretary, Dominic Raab, who has resigned.

Ethiopian Embassy Reception

Speaking at a reception at the Ethiopian Embassy celebrating Ethiopia's culture and the progress the country has made over the last year. This was an excellent event attended by people from across business, politics and the non-profit sector.

Remembrance Sunday

It was an amazing occasion yesterday at Tewkesbury Abbey and then at the cross. A huge turnout and wonderful services marked the 100th anniversary of the ending of the First World War, and paid tribute to those who lost their lives in other conflicts as well.

Special needs education funding

I held a meeting in my Commons office with Minister Nadim Zawahi discussing funding for special needs education. I am pressing for greater funding for Gloucestershire.
